Easy, Every Day Hairstyles for Long Hair?

I never really learned about hair styles and the like... When I was in high school, I kept my hair SUPER short because I was always bleaching and dying it.



Now that I'm older, I've let my hair grow out (with out bleaching and dying it!) I'm so psyched to finally have long hair, but it just kind of hangs there, doing nothing... or I get annoyed and it gets thrown back in a messy ponytail.



My hair is down to my shoulder blades, thick, and I don't have bangs.



What kinds of easy, no-brainer hairstyles can I use to update my look without having any real experience with hairstyling? I'd like to look more put together and less like a grunge girl from 90's Seattle.Easy, Every Day Hairstyles for Long Hair?
When I used to do my hair, many moons ago, I had a few fun tricks up my sleeve.



I loved doing the bun/pony tail. I'd put most of my hair in a bun, and have a few strands coming out the center into a pony tail. Since your hair is thick, I bet it would look WAY cooler than mine did with my fine wispyness.



French twists. They're kind of a pain until you get the hang of them, but you can do so much with them. You can have your hair cascading out the top of the twist in a funky pony tail, or you can have it coming out the bottom.



Braids! Lots and lots of braids! Fishbone braids are fun, french braids, one braid on either side pinned over the top of your forehead creating a kind of headband...get a braid book. It's surprising how much you can do with braids.

If I were you I would get side swept bangs. That looks good with any color hair and it's very ';in'; right now. Also, to complete the look, try trimming the hair in front a couple of inches shorter than the rest of you hair. This will help frame your face.
