Do you know of any 40's hairstyles for long hair?

I have a play coming up tonight and it's a 40's time period so I need some suggestions for my hair.

It's verrry long and not very good at holding a curl (Exact opposite of what I need...haha). The length is about about an inch below my breasts. I need something fairly simple, nothing too difficult or time-consuming...

Pictures would be great and if you have instructions, those are appreciated. Thanks!Do you know of any 40's hairstyles for long hair?
Hair was usually pulled back, often with bandanas, scarves or barrettes. Turbans were popular also, especially with those who wore pin up clothing and the glamorous Hollywood starlettes.

Chingnon is a simple but elegant look that can be styled in a few ways, usually worn for formal events and social affairs. The chignon is a classic forties look that is basically a bun at the back of the head or semi-center of the head. http://www.beauty-and-the-bath.com/class/a>

Victory rolls was used as a fashion statement by women who were celebrating the success of WWII. The 1940s Victory rolls hairstyles were elegant rolls, where sections of the hair were twirled around the finger tips and secured with bobby pins, and than in the morning the hair was gently brushed up to the sides while the rolls stayed in place. http://www.wikihow.com/Create-an-America/a>Do you know of any 40's hairstyles for long hair?
