What are temporary hair extensions and are they hard to maintain?

I am trying to decide between getting permanent hair extensions for my wedding or temporary ones, but I don't want to spend the money for the permanent if they are super hard to maintain. Are the temporary ones easier to deal with?What are temporary hair extensions and are they hard to maintain?
P: fake hair you braid in to your under hair, you have to be careful when washing them and dont get them wet in the pool

I recently had extensions - (sewed in ) i didnt get them because i had short hair but thin hair - i loved them but when I took them out i lost soo much hair because of the braiding and tightness- be carefull what ever you get and think about your hair after ! id say clip on for a wedding/short time.
