What is the difference between a weave and hair extensions?

I'm thinking of getting some hair extensions put in make it look like i have lots more hair, and to lengthen it, of course. So is there a difference between getting a weave and getting hair extensions? Should I be asking my hairdresser for a weave instead of hair extensions, or are they the same thing?

Thanks. What is the difference between a weave and hair extensions?
Weave Is Strands Of Hair Sewn On A Peace Of Material. That Then Either Gets Glued, Or Sewn Into Your Own Hair.

Extensions Are Platted Into Your Hair, It Makes it Look Like You Have More Hair As Weave Can Go Flat.

It Depends On What You Buy, Although You Would have To Take Out Your Weave And Wash It Ect.What is the difference between a weave and hair extensions?
weaves hurt more :)

Weaves are more of a permanent solution. I've worn fusion hair and weaves, and I prefer weaves because they seem like a higher quality and durable solution in my opinion.

Here's a good video demonstrating how weaves are installed:

They are the same in a sense, just the method of putting them in is different.

With a weave, you would buy the hair in wefts. Your hair is the braided (corn rowed) into tracks and the the wefts are then sowed in.

These are uncomfortable and last about a month.

Its generally a cheaper way of getting extensions. Glue is another cheap way.

Than you get into more expensive, but better methods.

You have Fusion, this is where I-tipped, or u-tipped hair. The hair is bonded in sections to your natural hair using usually a keratin glue. This is very damaging, despite what they tell you, and if done incorrectly (too little hair glued with the extension) the hair will break off pretty much at the root.

These generally 3-6 months. The hair is not reusable.

Then there is microlinks. The hair used is only I-Tipped. The hair is connected in small pieces using a small ';bead';. The bead and hair is clamped together. This is not damaging, last 4-6 months, and the hair is reusable. Not only that, but if you decide to keep them, all you have to do is move the bead up instead of starting over. These are the best option for a permanent extension.

The cost will depend on a copuple things, are you getting the hair and service together? this will cost you more.

Are you using real hair or synthetic hair?

real hair is 100000 times better. The hair you want to get is Remy Human Hair. Generally, you can buy the hair separate (on ebay is your best bet) for around $200, and than get any of those services for up $300 (meaning it will cost you $300 to get them put in).

There are ways to make this cheaper. If you want help finding hair let me know.

I would opt for Clip in extensions if I were you. They are cheaper, non-permanent and will help you decide better what you like. A great seller on ebay is cliphair.ltd

this is wher I get my clip ins, but theres lots of good sellers on ebay.

If you need more help let me know
