Does anyone know any formal hairstyles for long hair?

I'm looking for a hairstyle for my high school formal. I need something I can do on my own, or with a bit of help from a friend. My hair is mid-back length and I have bangs. i'd say straighten your hair fully then take four or more pieces of hair 2 pieces or more on each side and curl those pieces. I know it's very subtle but it's really pretty.
